Our Chief Instructors

ALABAMA

Irene Rimer, Master Instructor & Choreographer currently teaches at our Birmingham studio at Cobb Lane; she also teaches at the children Dance Foundation & Devyani Dance Center.  Read more about our founder here IRENE RIMER 

Mary Jo Misra trained and danced professionally with Ballets de San Juan, in her native Puerto Rico.  As a ballet dancer she had the honor of sharing the stage with international figures such as Rudolph Nureyev, Fernando Bujones

FLORIDA 

Deborah Rimer was a member of the Belly Dance Jewels from 1999 to 2001 and studied and graduated from Barbizon Modeling school. She separated from our group and taught Belly Dancing at Bally’s Total Fitness for about two years and often mentioned her desire to come back to the studio since it was "the place" to grow and keep her technique clean. She is continuing her grown at our studio and currently doing workshops with Irene Rimer & Tamalyn Dallal. She is teaching Modeling and Belly Dance. She brings a unique fusion of Indian and modern styles to the art of Belly Dance. Debbie has always mesmerized the audience with her performances and her students with her teaching talent. She is currently the director of the Irene Rimer Belly Dance Jewels.

Jessica Melgar as our chief Ballet, Jazz & Hip Hop Instructor. She was our student of the year 2001. She studied Ballet with our former chief ballet instructor Monica Gonzalez. Jessica performed in our Viva la Dance recital as prima Ballet dancer with Armando Gonzalez; she was recommended by our studio to the University of Florida Dance program and was accepted. She is extremely talented and an unforgettable instructor; Many of our former students that learned with her have already returned to our studio. We welcome all of you back to experience her challenging method and transformation magic.

Pedro Delgado was a member of Manolo Diaz Ballet Flamenco. He studied under Granada’s own Virgilio Azahara and with Estrella Morena. He had the privilege of studying next to Leo Amaya. Pedro is currently teaching beginners Flamenco & Classic Spanish. Pedro is our chief Salsa instructor. He has extensively taught throughout South Florida and is widely known in this environment.It is our intention to promote and give better performing opportunities and prime exposure to our best Belly Dance students and members of the Belly Dance Jewels in Alabama and South Florida in the future. Students meeting all criteria for the Jewels will be given extremely important roles in numerous performances in Birmingham, around the country, and abroad.
