Flamenco
dancing is the native dance of the Southern part of Spain, Andalusia.
This is an intense, emotional, gypsy type of dance, which
involves the stamping of the feet at different rhythms and sensual
movement of the arms and hands. The different aspect of this dance
compared to others is that the dancer is the person that actually
directs the whole dance and by certain movements indicates to the
guitarists and singers what to do next. It requires improvisation and
the mastering of rhythm. Different types of flamenco rhythms taught are: Alegrías, Soleares, Seguirillas, Tangos,
Tanguillos, Tientos, Rumbas, Farrucas, Guajiras, Solea por bulerias, and
Bulerías. For more information, please see history

| These
dances are from the northern and central part of Spain. They consist of
classical movements and do not involve much of the stamping of the feet
as in Flamenco; castanets
and fans are used for some of the dances. The typical dresses used vary
and are rich in beauty and creativity. The different types of Classical
Spanish dances taught are Jotas, Goyescas, Madrileñas,
Malagueñas and more.
